It turns out we fixed it. Here is a gif showing ph levels in US precipitation over the last couple of decades:
I just stitched the images here into a gif. There are a lot of similar data sets on that site.
Fixing it took a few regulations: requiring scrubbers in coal plants and catalytic converters in cars were two of them. There have also been some international treaties addressing it. It turned out that fixing acid rain was not particularly difficult.
